Know your limit? At Cool Hand
Online Poker, we’ll make sure you do. A limit in poker terms is simply the amount a player may bet. Typical limits include no limit, pot limit and fixed limit.
Let’s explain each of those in a bit more detail…
No Limit
This is the way Texas Hold ’em is played and is the most televised version of betting. You can put all your chips in the pot if you choose. There’s no limit to the amount you bet in each round but the amount must be at least the size of the last bet and as much as the big blind.
Pot Limit
The most you can bet or raise is controlled by the amount that’s already in the pot at the time of betting. You can bet any amount up to and including the size of the pot. This type of play can get very expensive and is the least most common form of betting.
Fixed Limit
This is the most common form of poker. You can only bet or raise according to what’s been set by the table (this is the same amount as the blind). So your only choice is to bet, or not to bet! The betting is fixed and the game is very controlled.
